Figma has become the industry standard for interface design, and it earned that position through genuinely innovative real-time collaboration. Multiple designers working simultaneously on the same file with live cursors was transformative for design teams, and nothing else does it as smoothly. The browser-based approach eliminates platform dependencies and installation friction. Auto layout, component variants, and design system support make it powerful enough for enterprise-scale design work. The plugin ecosystem and community templates add tremendous value. Dev Mode with code generation streamlines the design-to-development handoff. FigJam provides useful whiteboarding, though it is basic compared to dedicated tools like Miro. As a project management tool, Figma offers comments, version history, and team libraries but lacks the workflow, sprint, and tracking capabilities that the category demands. The Android app (3.9 rating) is notably weaker than iOS. The free tier is generous for individual designers. For collaborative UI/UX design specifically, Figma is the definitive tool.
